Exhibitor: Doug McGill
Tells the story of one of the key provisions of the Anglo-French Conventions of 1843 and 1857 – the Concept of the maritime moveable box – the use of private vessels to carry mail posted on board or at the dockside, such mail being cancelled at the destination port, resulting in GB stamps cancelled in France and vice-versa.
